ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Two-time major tournament champion, John Daly is prepping for his PGA TOUR Champions debut with the help of multi-award winning club fitter Bob VanSweden.

Daly becomes eligible to compete in PGA TOUR Champion’s events when he turns 50 on April 28 and is wasting little time. He has already registered to compete in his first tournament, the Insperity Invitational, scheduled to be held from May 4-8.

In order to gain a competitive edge, Daly enlisted the help of nationally-recognized club fitter Bob VanSweden. The two have been working late into the night at VanSweden’s St. Petersburg, Florida based club fitting studio, testing the latest equipment and perfecting the clubs Daly will use on tour.

When asked why he frequents VanSweden’s Golf Repair Center, Daly responded, “I want the best to fix my clubs. I always come see Bob because he’s the best.”

In total, VanSweden, built four sets of irons and five drivers for Daly, which he will continue to test before his first PGA TOUR Champion’s tournament debut. With the exception of his putter, Daly will use all TaylorMade clubs, specially customized to his exact specifications. Interestingly, the former PGA TOUR star prefers his golf club grips built up, with 10 wraps of tape underneath.

“You never know who you’ll see in my shop from day-to-day.
