ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – KBS, a prominent national golf club shaft manufacturer with numerous PGA Tour wins and industry accolades, launched their latest product with inspiration from St. Petersburg resident and nationally recognized award-winning club fitter, Bob VanSweden.

KBS introduced their 560 and 580 series golf shafts at the 2016 PGA Merchandise Show and drew an immediate interest among golfers. The two series are designed for younger developing players and provide junior golfers with the opportunity to play OEM-products scaled to their size and swing specifications.

VanSweden is the founder of the Golf Repair Center in St. Petersburg, Florida and sits on KBS’s advisory board. He first noticed a need for higher-quality junior golf shafts while working with his son and approached KBS with the idea of creating a tour-caliber product for junior golfers.

“Playing the right equipment is instrumental for golfers of all ages, especially for players still growing and establishing their golf swing,” said Bob VanSweden. “Younger golfers want to play the same equipment available to their favorite PGA professional, older siblings and parents. Before KBS developed the 560 and 580 series shafts, it just wasn’t possible.”

VanSweden worked closely with the KBS design team during the extensive prototype testing process, which involved numerous launch monitor sessions in his St. Petersburg studio with junior golfers across the Tampa Bay area.

“There is no other product like this in the industry. My hope is that it allows young up and coming golfers to hit better shots and ultimately enjoy the game more,” said VanSweden.

In addition to receiving numerous awards and serving on multiple advisory boards, VanSweden has fitted dozens of pro-golfers, athletes and celebrities.
